Location and postcode searches

If you enter a postcode, PawPath uses that postcode to find its approximate latitude and longitude. If you choose “Use my location”, your browser asks for permission to access your device location. PawPath then uses those coordinates to search for nearby walks and useful information.

Postcode lookups use Postcodes.io. Walk and location information is based mainly on OpenStreetMap data, and weather information is provided using Open-Meteo.

Saved favourites and recently viewed walks

PawPath currently stores favourites and recently viewed walks in your browser using local storage. This information stays on that browser/device unless you clear it. PawPath does not currently require you to create an account.

Hosting and technical logs

PawPath is hosted by Vercel. Like most web hosting services, Vercel may process technical request information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as IP address, browser/device information, request URLs, timestamps and diagnostic logs. Some PawPath API request URLs contain search coordinates because nearby results are requested using latitude and longitude.

Third-party services

PawPath uses external services to provide parts of the experience. These currently include OpenStreetMap and public Overpass services for mapped information, Postcodes.io for UK postcode lookups, Open-Meteo for weather forecasts, and Apple Maps or Google Maps when you choose to open driving directions.

When you open an external map or follow an external link, that provider’s own privacy terms apply.

Selling personal information

PawPath does not sell your personal information to advertisers.

Changes to PawPath

PawPath is still being developed. If accounts, analytics, advertising, payments or other features are added later, this privacy notice should be updated before those features are used publicly.
